Bar Name: The Corner Review: At The Corner, part of the terminally trendy Townsend Hotel, where you’re hampered by a choice of only 100 martinis. Start with one of their Corner Classic creations and ease back into the sultry surrounds: an L-shaped lounge, mahogany bar counter, stools with blue suede covers, and a neon-blue light reflected in a dome ceiling. Add stainless steel pewter tiles, delicate mosaics, huge bay windows and Old French-style beveled mirrors and you’re in something out of Wallpaper magazine. Appropriately the locals all seem primed for a fashion shoot, designer-wear complimenting flashes of white teeth. There’s top nosh too, dishes including delicacies like jumbo-sized prawn snacks; music comes from surround-sound satellite radio, and the hi-tech lighting and video projections make for a classy club atmosphere. The top drink? A Billionaire Margarita made with Patron Silver Tequila and 100-yr-old Grand Marnier ” at a mere 16 bucks giving new meaning to the words ‘Just popping down The Corner.’” |
